ADOSH investigates workplace fatalities and accidents to determine if there were any safety or health standards violated which caused or contributed to an employee’s death or injury. The following table lists the total number of fatalities investigated for each two-calendar-year period, the most common causes of the fatalities, and the percentage of fatalities investigated attributed to each cause.
The 20 standards most frequently cited by ADOSH for the 12 months ending September 30, 2010 are the ones in this table. The single standard that rises to the top here is the Hazard Communication Standard, commonly known as the "Right to Know" law.
