ADMINISTRATIVE AND SPECIAL FUND ASSESSMENT RATES FOR CY 2013
|
At the Commission's public meeting held on September 5, 2012, the Commission established
the following administrative and special fund assessment rates for calendar year
(CY) 2013:
- Administrative Fund tax rate under A.R.S. § 23-961(J) at 2.75%.
- Special Fund assessment rate under A.R.S. § 23-1065(A) (for general special
fund liabilities) at 1.25%.
- Apportionment assessment rate under A.R.S. § 23-1065(F) at 0.5%. (Assessment
hearing was June 28, 2012.)
- Insolvent Carrier/Bankrupt Self-Insured Employer assessment rate under A.R.S. §
23-966(D) at 0.5%.
As a result of the foregoing action taken by the Commission, the total assessment
rate was reduced to 5.0% for CY 2013 from the current total assessment rate of 5.5%
for CY 2012.

SELF-INSURANCE AUTHORITY INFORMATION
|
Minimum Qualifications for Applying for Self-Insurance Authority
- Annual payroll of at least $2,000,000 (this may include the payroll of included
subsidiaries)
- Total assets of $50,000,000 or a cash flow ratio of at least 0.25
- Have conducted business in Arizona for a minimum of 5 years (business can be conducted
through a domiciled subsidiary company)
Under the provisions of A.R.S. § 23-961 and § 23-961.01, the Self-Insurance
Office processes all initial and renewal applications from individual or group employers
requesting authority to act as a self-insured entity for workers' compensation.
